研究結果を一般化し将来への外挿をする

In the present work a new silicon carbon fiber composite material has been developed and evaluated as a heat-resistant spacecraft material. Oxygen plasma erosion test results have indicated that, presumably due to the non-uniform distribution of silicon, the two-directional weave outperforms the three-derectional weave, which, however, has not yet been thoroughly explained. This warrants future work on the method of injecting the silicon carbide binder. Nonetheless, the newly developed material will allow us to increase the thrust power significantly if it is applied for the jet nozzle, and also to ease on the rentrant condition if it is applied for the nose cone of a spacecraft.

○nonetheless(またはnevertheless) ⇒ howeverとは少し意味が異なる。nonethelessは単に意味を反転させるのではなく、「(否定的な意味を受けながら)それでも…である」という意味になる。

On the other hand, where the behavior of silicon concentration at low fluence is concerned, there are large disagreement between the simulation and experimental results. In order to understand this discrepancy, more systematic studies such as the kinetic-energy dependence and projectile mas dependence as well as the sputtering yield ratio between silicon and carbon should be performed in the future.

○more systematic studies ⇒ この表現だとmoreがsystematicにかかるのかstudiesにかかるのかはっきりしない。systematicにかかると取られれば、この論文は、systematicな研究ではなかったことになってしまう。
○such as the kinetic-energy dependence and the projectile mass dependence ⇒ such asの後は、通常、1つの例を挙げるだけで十分。

 

書き直すと
Code calculation apparently have failed to reproduce quantitatively the energy dependence of sputtering behavior of carbon in comparison with that of silicon at low fluences of ion bombardment. This has led to the second set of experiments, the data from which are not presented in this report. In these experiments, more quantitative analysis of silicon and carbon sputtering is intended. Nevertheless, it is notable that the current version of computer code can at least predict the trend of preferential sputtering of carbon to silicon.
